A design and prototyping tool specifically for creating interactive mobile app prototypes. It is part of the Facebook Design toolkit and allows designers to create animations, interactions, and user flows for their mobile app designs.

With origami.design, you can design and prototype mobile app interactions using a visual editor and a variety of pre-built components. You can also create custom animations and transitions to bring your designs to life. Once you’ve created your prototype, you can preview it on your mobile device or share it with others for feedback.

This is a powerful tool for designers looking to create interactive mobile app prototypes quickly and easily.

      Steps:

      1. Create a new project: After logging into origami.design, you can create a new project by selecting “Create new project” or by duplicating an existing project.
      2. Design your screens: Next, design the screens for your app prototype using the built-in design tools. You can create new screens, add images and text, and customize the layout.
      3. Add interactions: Once you have your screens designed, you can start adding interactions to create a functional prototype. You can add gestures, animations, and transitions to your screens to simulate how the app will work.
      4. Preview your prototype: After adding interactions, you can preview your prototype in the Origami Preview app. The Preview app allows you to see how your prototype will look and behave on a mobile device.
      5. Share and collaborate: Once you’re happy with your prototype, you can share it with others for feedback or collaboration. You can share a link to your prototype or invite others to view it within the origami.design app.
      6. Iterate and refine: Based on feedback and testing, you may need to refine your prototype by making changes to the design or interactions. You can continue iterating on your prototype until you’re satisfied with the final result.

      Advantages

      1. Wide range of design tools: Offers a wide range of design tools, including pre-built components, animations, and interactions, which can help designers create high-fidelity prototypes quickly.
      2. Customizable interactions: The tool allows designers to create their own custom interactions and animations, giving them more control over the design and user experience of the prototype.
      3. Realistic prototyping: Designers can create prototypes that simulate the user experience of an actual app, making it easier to test and refine the design before development.
      4. Integration with other tools: Can be integrated with other design and development tools, such as Sketch and Framer, making it easy to incorporate designs from other tools into the prototype.

      Disadvantages

      1. Learning curve: As with any new tool, there may be a learning curve for designers who are not familiar with origami.design. However, the tool does offer tutorials and resources to help designers get started.
      2. Limited to mobile app prototypes: While it is a powerful tool for creating mobile app prototypes, it may not be suitable for other types of digital design projects.
      3. Limited collaboration features: While designers can share their prototypes with others for feedback and collaboration, the collaboration features in origami.design may be limited compared to other prototyping tools.
