KWK Promes has unveiled the ‘Open House’ in Germany, a unique dwelling that blends openness with privacy near Bremen. The house seamlessly connects to nature while providing seclusion when needed. It features an innovative mechanism allowing it to switch from an open space to a private sanctuary with the push of a button. This is essential due to occasional visitors for events in the area. When privacy is desired, walls on wheels move into place, shielding the house.
The location near Bremen is usually quiet but can get busy during events. The goal was to maintain openness while allowing for temporary closure when necessary. The Open House, spanning 2,700 square feet, is designed for a family of two and includes a garage. Inside, there are two bedrooms, a living room, a mezzanine, a kitchen, and bathrooms. Large windows offer a connection to the outdoors.
The exterior design reflects the local style with whitewashed walls and a thatched reed roof. Solar panels provide all the power, emphasizing sustainability. The Open House showcases KWK Promes’ commitment to eco-friendly design and creating homes that blend with nature and suit the residents’ lifestyles.
