The Filter Cap, created by Filsa Water and partners, is a small, light device weighing 24 grams. It can be attached to any standard PET bottle. Using advanced 3D technology, the cap is made from minerals, metals, and natural extracts. This design purifies water, making any PET bottle a portable water treatment plant. It improves water quality, removes impurities by 70%, and eliminates 90% of heavy metals, crucial for ensuring safe drinking water in areas with shortages.
The introduction of the Filter Cap is timely, given the vulnerability of Colombia’s remote communities during the 2024 drought. Its compact size makes it ideal for humanitarian aid and disaster relief, offering a simple way to purify water, reducing diseases and improving health.
The cap’s casing is 3D printed from cornstarch-based resin, compostable after use, promoting plastic bottle reuse and sustainable practices. This addresses water and environmental concerns.
