Winding paths cut through lush greenery, leading up the Andes to a modern structure in Guatapé, Colombia. This 3,500-square-foot house sits 6,200 feet above sea level on a 1.5-acre private shoreline. It’s the latest addition to Schenkar Luxury Homes’ portfolio, created with GA Arquitectura y Construcción. The house has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a media room, office, and over 2,000 square feet of outdoor decking, offering stunning views and a mix of sustainability and design.
The two-story house has large windows and flat roofs, blending indoor and outdoor spaces effortlessly. It uses concrete, steel, Colombian stone, and Italian marble in white, black, and grey tones, with warm wood accents. Local artisans from Bogota made custom linens and furniture, adding regional flair.
Construction took three and a half years, with nine meticulous phases due to the challenging terrain. The focus was on sustainability, using high-efficiency insulation, solar panels, and recycled materials. A rainwater system collects and filters water for irrigation and drinking.
Schenkar’s custom homes cater to clients’ needs, style, and functionality. They support local economic development by hiring local workers and training them in sustainable building.
This house showcases luxury, sustainability, and local craftsmanship. To learn more about Schenkar’s creations, visit schenkarluxuryhomes.com, and for their collaborators in Bogota, go to ga-arkitectura.com.
