Different paint finishes refer to the sheen or gloss level of the paint once it has dried. Each type of finish has its own characteristics in terms of appearance, durability, and suitability for different surfaces.

      1. Flat/Matte Finish:
        • Appearance: Flat finishes have a non-reflective appearance with a smooth, velvety texture. They do not reflect light, which can help hide imperfections on walls.
        • Durability: Less durable and more prone to stains and marks compared to higher gloss finishes.
        • Suitability: Ideal for low-traffic areas such as bedrooms, living rooms, and ceilings where a soft, uniform appearance is desired.
      2. Eggshell Finish:
        • Appearance: Eggshell finishes have a slight sheen that is more subtle than satin or semi-gloss. It offers a soft, smooth appearance with a hint of shine.
        • Durability: More durable and easier to clean than flat/matte finishes, making it suitable for moderate-traffic areas like dining rooms, hallways, and family rooms.
        • Suitability: Provides a balance between appearance and durability, suitable for most interior walls.
      3. Satin Finish:
        • Appearance: Satin finishes have a gentle sheen that is higher than eggshell but not as shiny as semi-gloss. It reflects more light, giving a soft glow to surfaces.
        • Durability: More durable and easier to clean than eggshell finishes. Resists mildew, moisture, and stains well.
        • Suitability: Suitable for high-traffic areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and kids’ rooms, as well as trim work and doors.
      4. Semi-Gloss Finish:
        • Appearance: Semi-gloss finishes have a noticeable shine and reflect more light. They have a smooth, polished look that enhances colors and details.
        • Durability: Highly durable and easy to clean, making it resistant to moisture, stains, and abrasion.
        • Suitability: Ideal for high-traffic areas that require frequent cleaning, such as kitchens, bathrooms, trim, and doors.
      5. Gloss Finish:
        • Appearance: Gloss finishes have a high sheen and reflect the most light, creating a shiny, reflective surface.
        • Durability: Extremely durable and easy to clean, but may show imperfections more easily due to its high gloss.
        • Suitability: Typically used for speciality applications such as furniture, cabinets, doors, and trim where a dramatic, glossy finish is desired.

Choosing the right paint finish depends on the desired aesthetic, the function of the space, and the level of durability needed.
