The resurgence of physical buttons has arrived, courtesy of Clicks Technology, the UK-based startup founded by Kevin Michaluk, also known as CrackBerry Kevin, and his co-founder Michael Fisher, aka MrMobile. Their latest innovation is a BlackBerry-style keyboard designed for the iPhone, featuring a sleek aesthetic in two color variations: vibrant Bumblebee yellow and the sophisticated London Sky shade. Set to make its physical debut at CES 2024 in Las Vegas from January 9th to 12th, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the tactile joy of the new keyboard.

Clicks’ keyboard for the iPhone seamlessly slides into place, connecting through the lightning port or USB-C, depending on the iPhone model. The physical integration provides a transformative experience, giving the iPhone a distinctive larger appearance. Additionally, the keyboard boasts a backlight feature, catering to users who burn the midnight oil while typing. Clicks has announced that the shipping for this BlackBerry-styled keyboard for the iPhone will commence on February 1st, 2024.

In a nod to efficiency, Kevin Michaluk shares that the Clicks keyboard is equipped to activate iOS workarounds with ease. Shortcuts like CMD + H for navigating to the home screen, CMD + Space for launching Search, and utilizing the space bar for scrolling through web pages are seamlessly integrated. Attendees at CES 2024 will have the chance to explore these features firsthand during the physical unveiling of the smart case.

Unlike traditional Bluetooth keyboards, Clicks’ solution connects directly through the Lightning or USB-C port, allowing users to charge their iPhones as usual. This eliminates the need for a separate charging process and negates the necessity for Bluetooth pairing. Michaluk emphasizes that the initial customers of Clicks will receive the exclusive Founders Edition units, complete with a special badge on the back, a laser-engraved serial number, and additional perks for early adopters. As of January 4th, 2024, users can reserve their Clicks’ case for $139, with the dedicated app slated to arrive soon on the Apple App Store, offering extended functionalities for an enhanced user experience.
