Art AI: Midjourney

Midjourney is an independent research lab that creates images from textual descriptions, similar to OpenAI’s DALL-E and Stable Diffusion. It is currently in beta mode for public use. It is speculated that the underlying technology of MidJournet is based on Stable Diffusion. The company was founded by David Holz, co-founder of Leap Motion. The company has been working on improving its algorithms, releasing new versions every few months.

To use Midjourney AI, you need to have a Discord account.. At this moment in time Midjourney is only accessible through a Discord bot on their official Discord. You DM (direct messaging) the bot, or invite the bot to a third party server. To generate images, users use the /imagine command and type in a prompt; the bot then returns an image (inside any of the #newbies channels, you need to type “/imagine” and then a space, enter your description after the “Prompt” keyword).

Your first 25 images on Midjourney are free. The Basic Membership monthly subscription allows you to create up to 200 images. The higher-level Standard Membership subscription lets you have unlimited creations in “relaxed” mode. The membership includes three plans: Basic, Standard, and Pro for $10, $30, and $60 per month.
