Volleback’s latest creation, the Full Metal Jacket, is a testament to their commitment to innovation and their understanding of the needs of those who brave the harshest weather conditions.
The key to this jacket’s remarkable performance lies in its unconventional material – copper. Volleback has managed to harness the strength and malleability of this metal, using an impressive 11 kilometers of it in each jacket. The process of transforming the electrolytic industrial copper into thin, yet durable strands is a marvel of engineering.
The resulting fabric is a blend of 59.5% copper, 20% polyurethane, 20% polyamide, and 0.5% other metals, creating a material that is waterproof, windproof, and breathable. The jacket’s construction is further enhanced by a six-day curing process and the integration of an advanced waterproof and breathable membrane called c_change®.
Despite the seemingly heavy nature of the material, the Full Metal Jacket is surprisingly lightweight and not at all bulky. Its design features include two fleece-lined zipped side pockets, two giant front bellows pockets with angled storm flaps, two zipped upper chest pockets concealed behind storm flaps, and one zipped internal pocket – all of which contribute to its functionality and versatility.
The choice of copper as the primary material is not just a stylistic one; it also serves a practical purpose. Copper is known for its biostatic properties, meaning it can resist the growth of microorganisms. This makes the Full Metal Jacket an ideal choice for those who need protection not only from the elements but also from potential infections and diseases.
In fact, NASA is currently experimenting with copper-based materials to create medical instruments for use on the International Space Station, further highlighting the material’s potential applications in the future. For those who dream of venturing into the great beyond, the Full Metal Jacket could be the perfect companion, shielding them from the harsh realities of space.
Available in three striking colors – black, copper, and silver – the Full Metal Jacket is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of outerwear.
