The gaming market is changing with more stylish metal devices and accessories becoming popular. Analogue and 8BitDo are leading this trend. 8BitDo recently released metal versions of its SN30 Pro controllers to celebrate its eleventh anniversary. These controllers are not only functional but also durable.
8BitDo’s controllers are designed to be lightweight yet sturdy for better gameplay. The new SN30 Pro variant, inspired by the Super Nintendo gamepad, incorporates a significant amount of metal into its design.
The Gold and Silver editions of the SN30 Pro are made from a metal zinc alloy, not just painted with metallic colors. Every visible part, including buttons and joysticks, is metal. The gold version has a matte finish, while the silver one undergoes an electroplating process. The cables, however, remain non-metallic for practical reasons.
These metal controllers are more durable than plastic ones, resisting warping and deformation. They might dent but are less likely to crack. Weighing 381 grams, the SN30 Pro Gold/Silver Edition is heavier than the standard SN30 Pro (114 grams) and even the Xbox Wireless Controller (287 grams). Despite the weight, these controllers are built to last.
