KitchenAid is known for its stand mixer and other kitchen appliances, but now they’re entering the coffee world with the new Espresso Collection. The collection includes a semi-automatic model and three variations of a fully-automatic machine. These machines have a modern industrial design, different from the stand mixer, and have won a Red Dot Award for Product Design 2024.
We tested the $699 Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine with Burr Grinder, while Kelly Beall tried the top-tier $1999.99 Fully-Automatic Espresso Machine KF8.
The Semi-Automatic model is compact yet substantial, with a metal-clad design and a built-in burr grinder that operates quietly. The machine involves dosing and tamping with a 58mm portafilter, made easier by KitchenAid’s Smart Dosing Technology. The control panel allows easy adjustments for temperature, dosing, frothing, and cleaning, delivering smooth shots with a fine crema.
Kelly found the Fully-Automatic Espresso Machine KF8 convenient and versatile, with a touchscreen display and auto-dispensing milk container. It offers over 40 drinks options and settings for strength, volume, temperature, and milk type, allowing for personalization and one-button convenience.
Both machines operate quietly and have earned a Certified Quiet Appliance mark from Quiet Mark. The low noise level of the bean hopper is a significant advantage for a peaceful morning routine.
KitchenAid’s Espresso Collection combines modern design, functionality, and quiet operation, making it a strong contender in the home espresso machine market.
