Hublot has introduced the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System, a groundbreaking titanium timepiece that eschews traditional hands and dial, opting instead for four dynamically rotating displays reminiscent of an automatic circular file holder. Departing from conventional watch aesthetics, Hublot ventures into uncharted territory by utilizing these rotating displays to convey the time. Positioned in the upper third of the timepiece, the hours and minutes are discernibly showcased through an ingenious invisible magnifying glass.
The central third of the watch houses a circular power reserve, delineated by clear green and red zones. The lower third features the seconds, enclosed within a tourbillon cage crafted from a monobloc aluminum, suspended and inclined. Hublot unveiled this innovative titanium timepiece at the LVMH Watch Week 2024 in Miami, held from January 28th to February 1st.
Who needs a conventional watch dial? Certainly not the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System by Hublot. For this Swiss watchmaker, the essence lies in transforming the movement of a handless and dial-less watch into the face and soul of the timepiece. Drawing inspiration from architectural elements, the meticulously placed mechanisms within a boxy tourbillon cage evoke the visual allure of a ticking time bomb. The presence of an invisible magnifying glass enhances time readability as the wearer glances from top to bottom. The power reserve, with its two-tone disc, aligns coaxially with the hours and minutes.
The MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System constructs its middle and case-back from shiny micro-blasted titanium, while a sapphire crystal adds a finishing touch, featuring inclined planes on three axes. Rubber straps secure the titanium watch around the wrist, with white lacquer typography on black aluminum rollers facilitating easy time reading. A red triangular marker ensures a quick grasp of the hour, guiding the wearer’s focus effortlessly.
Deviating from traditional winding mechanisms, the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System employs an unconventional approach. Two blocks of white gold, positioned on either side of the titanium watch, move along a vertical axis, ensuring the watch remains wound. To prevent collisions, Hublot incorporates a system of shock absorbers. The vertical gold blocks wind the watch in both directions, while manual winding is achievable using the crown at 12 o’clock. In its relentless pursuit of innovation, Hublot has redefined the boundaries of watch design with the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System, a true testament to their commitment to pushing the horological envelope.
