Apple is rumored to be working on something special for the 10-year anniversary of its Watch in September. Similar to the iPhone X launch, details are kept secret, leaving fans curious about what’s to come. Designer Luka Gehrer has imagined the Watch X, with upgrades that outshine the previous Watch Ultra. The Watch X features an edge-to-edge display, a discreet hole-punch camera, a blood pressure monitor in the strap, and TouchID in the crown.
Gehrer sees the Watch as more than just a timepiece, envisioning it as an extension of the smartphone world with added health benefits. The inclusion of a front camera and a bezel-less display brings familiarity with a touch of innovation. The camera allows for FaceTime calls and capturing moments, although the idea of dynamic islands on smartwatches may be pushing boundaries too soon.
Gehrer’s choice of a square case design pays tribute to the iPhone 15’s look, giving a sophisticated feel. Safety concerns arise with the camera, leading to the integration of TouchID in the crown for added security. Additionally, the Watch X’s strap houses a Blood Pressure monitor, a feature hinted at by Apple analyst Mark Gurman.
As excitement builds for Apple’s upcoming events, talks of product updates are in the air. While the September event will likely reveal new iPhones and possibly the Watch Ultra, the potential for the Watch 10th Gen remains a topic of speculation. Gehrer’s concept teases fans with the idea of FaceTime without the need for the Wristcam strap.
