ASUS has revealed its new handheld gaming PC, the ROG Ally X. Despite the name change from Ally 2, this version brings significant improvements while keeping the core of its predecessor, the ROG Ally. These enhancements make the ROG Ally X a stronger gaming companion.
The ROG Ally X looks similar to the original but now comes in all black. Initially released in white, this change sets it apart. Updates like rounder handles for better grip, angled back triggers for comfort, and improved joystick and D-pad components enhance the user experience.
Under the hood, it still has the powerful AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor but now offers 24GB of DDR-7500 RAM, up from 16GB. Storage is doubled to 1TB, and upgrading is easier. The battery capacity is increased to 80Wh for longer gaming sessions. The thermal cooling system is also improved for intense play.
A significant change is the switch to a Thunderbolt-compatible USB-C port from ASUS’s XG external graphics port, offering broader compatibility with external devices.
The ROG Ally X is priced at $799.99, reflecting its enhanced capabilities. The older ROG Ally is still available for those satisfied with its specs. The ROG Ally X targets power gamers, providing a portable yet potent gaming experience.
